Two things to sort before we arrive

Gas appliances need the line shut off and capped by someone qualified — that isn't work we're licensed to do. And propane tanks have to come off a BBQ before it goes in the trailer, because pressurised cylinders are hazardous waste in Ontario. Everything else, including refrigerant-bearing fridges and air conditioners, we handle.

Where It Ends Up

Recycled, Not Buried

Appliances are mostly steel, and steel is worth recycling. Very little of what we take from a London kitchen ends up in landfill.

Refrigerant comes out first

Fridges, freezers, window air conditioners and dehumidifiers go to a facility licensed to reclaim their refrigerant. Venting it is illegal in Ontario, and it's the single reason the curb won't take these units.

Steel and copper are separated

The cabinet, drum, motor and wiring are all recoverable. Washers and dryers in particular are close to entirely metal once the plastic trim is off.

Working units get a second look

If it still runs and it isn't ancient, we'd rather see it reused than scrapped. Tell us it works and we'll try — no promises, because most outlets won't take a unit over about ten years old.

The rest goes to the transfer station

What's genuinely left — insulation foam, plastic liners, seals — is disposed of properly at a legitimate facility. Nothing is dumped or left behind.

Will you take a working appliance?

Yes, and if it genuinely works we will try to see it reused rather than scrapped. Do you remove old water heaters?

Yes. Water heaters are a regular part of appliance removal work in London, and they price the same as any other single unit at a flat $49.99. The tank needs to be drained and disconnected from the water and the fuel source before it can be moved — if it is an electric tank we can usually handle the disconnection ourselves, but a gas tank needs a qualified person to close and cap the line first. If you are having a new tank installed, ask the installer whether removal is included, because it often is. If not, we will take the old one away the same day.
